“LIQUID” WORK AT THE SALONE DEL MOBILE

Ultranews #04

"Liquid" work at the Salone del Mobile

At the leading event for design and furniture, the office presents itself as evolved, contemporary, hybrid. And the trade fair sets out to accompany it. In this article, our editorial staff’s exclusive summary for this newsletter of what we saw and the most interesting trends in the world of living.

A space that becomes flexible, permeable and dynamic. The office of 2023 is sharing, openness, contamination. In short: hybrid. Word of the Salone del Mobile. In the recently concluded edition (18 to 23 April 2023) of the Milan event, inside Fiera Milano, the Workplace3.0 space hosted the stands of leading companies that have carved out a niche for themselves in the office world. A Workplace that adapts form to content and, as the growing trend dictates, becomes diffuse, liquid, expanding between all the exhibition halls. As work, collaboration and design change, design follows, to provide a suitable environment, with technology and environments capable of responding to change and the needs of the market.

Companies such as Quadrifoglio, with stands set up between beds and kitchens, have proposed a design office conceived to foster valuable relationships. Contemporary workspaces are designed to leave directional spaces, flexible places with ample room for interaction. The watchword: sharing and exchange. Everything imagined with materials, colours and finishes that embrace an ergonomics capable of making those who have to work feel at ease. The desk accommodates a space for several people or collaborators, meeting and waiting rooms integrate sofas and armchairs, all to be as inclusive and comfortable as possible.

Or like Pedrali, which focuses on flexible furnishing solutions capable of following the needs of the moment, with meeting rooms that can be set up as separate workstations if necessary, but also informal spaces for meetings or alcoves that provide acoustic and visual privacy, as guaranteed by the Zippo sofas.

Again, 4 Mariani, in a stand designed by Umberto Asnago and Lorenzo De Grandis, proposed a desk that combines a wooden structure (Macassar Ebony) with a lateral volume with leather elements that can be reproduced in a smaller version, intended for the home office, where it can be integrated with other functions.

A hybrid and flexible environment, designed to harmonise with other rooms in the home and workplace. Designed to be ‘between and with people’, with lines that accompany dialogue and cooperation. For everyone, made in their own way.

And to make everything more sustainable, sound-absorbing walls capable of reducing the noise that results from this cooperation. Isolmant’s Collection Smooth guarantees the correct absorption of reverberation, with panels with smooth surfaces, in the Desk versions, a partition between desks, and Stand, with a self-supporting wall. So that every room becomes usable in multiple ways with the lowest possible disturbance.
