ULTRADISTRICT LIVING LAB - BORGO NUOVO
The Living Lab Ultradistrict Borgo Nuovo was set up in Turin, at Ultraspazio Club, to quantify the environmental and social impact of the Ultraspazio community. The partners/consultants of the LL, activated within the framework of the initiatives foreseen by the MAID project financed by the NODES call, are the Politecnico di Torino – Architecture Design Department, Synesthesia srl and Softech Team srl
Ultradistrict Living Lab The LL bases its initiatives on KPIs identified taking into account the Ultraspace benchmark and the data that will be possible and appropriate to collect. The need to collect useful information on the way workplaces are used has stimulated the elaboration of a programme of activities summarised below.
Programme of activities of Ultradistrict LL – Borgo Nuovo:
– studies and research on the state of the art of products and processes for the monitoring and management of workplaces such as offices and coworking,
– presentation of intelligent products already on the market or still in the prototyping phase enabling hybrid work in a smart city,
– observation of people’s behaviour in using the services and products developed within the Living Lab.
The Living Lab will involve the courtly rooms of Palazzo Costa Carrù della Trinità used for coworking, the shops facing Via San Francesco da Paola and neighbouring streets, the public spaces represented by the Balbo gardens, Piazza Valdo Fusi, Piazza Carlo Emanuele II and neighbouring streets.
The results obtained, in addition to defining the impact of Ultraspace on the city, will lay the foundations to consolidate a management model of buildings for tertiary/residential use and surrounding public relation spaces that can be applied both in urban and mountain contexts. The first appointment is scheduled for Autumn 2024 with the presentation of the results of the studies on the technological backround related to the world of offices and coworking.

MAID - MountAIn Desk
MAID is a project financed under the Cascade Calls of the NODES Programme, supported by the MUR on PNRR MUR funds – M4C2 – Investment 1.5 Notice ‘Ecosystems of Innovation’, within the EU-funded PNRR – NextGenerationEU (Grant agreement No. ECS000036).
The project intends to activate in mountain communities a series of ‘flexplaces’, places of remote work and interaction that are economically, socially and environmentally sustainable, through the creation of a digital chain involving the entire territory. The objectives are: to revive mountain villages by attracting ‘digital nomads’; to provide physical infrastructures and digital systems for remote work and leisure; to collect, analyse and release environmental, energy and social data on the use of ‘flexplaces’. The sustainability of the project is monitored through the virtual assistant Dorota, a valuable AI resource designed for the retrieval, processing and release of data resulting from the use of ‘flexplaces’ in Digital Mountain Communities.
